Fintech – La rivoluzione che sta cambiando il mondo
Il rapido e significativo sviluppo tecnologico a cui stiamo assistendo negli anni più recenti è diffusamente considerato il motore della “quarta rivoluzione industriale”, che sta dando vita alla cosiddetta digital economy. Questo potente processo innovativo, generando impatti significativi sui processi produttivi e distributivi, sta modificando radicalmente i rapporti sociali ed economici e pone l’esigenza di un ripensamento dei tradizionali business model adottati nei vari settori. Con specifico riferimento al settore finanziario, l’applicazione delle nuove tecnologie digitali ha indotto lo sviluppo di imprese denominate FinTech, che forniscono servizi finanziari che, in passato, erano offerti solo da intermediari finanziari sottoposti a specifica regolamentazione.
DEFINIZIONE
Il Fintech è un settore composto da società che usano la tecnologia per rendere i sistemi finanziari più efficienti. All’interno del parco Fintech si muovono società che coprono una serie di sotto-segmenti:
- crowdfunding (raccolta di piccoli capitali dal pubblico dei risparmiatori);
- peer-to-peer lending (finanziamenti concessi da privati a privati o a imprese);
- asset management gestito con algoritmi (i cosiddetti ‘robo-advisor’);
- gestione dei pagamenti;
- credit-scoring (sistemi di valutazione del rischio di credito);
- le valute digitali o cripto-valute (come ad esempio il Bitcoin ).
In ciascun comparto numerose startup nascono, propongono nuovi modelli, ottengono capitali con l’obiettivo dichiarato di aggredire nicchie del settore finanziario con un modello completamente diverso da quello tradizionale: più efficiente, basato sulla tecnologia e in ultima analisi più conveniente per il cliente quanto alla velocità, alla qualità, alla customer experience.
Ognuna di queste micro-iniziative ha elevata probabilità di innovare metodi e processi del sistema finanziario tradizionale grazie alla tecnologia esistente o in sviluppo, ma deve fare i conti con aspetti di psicologia del consumatore, che potrebbe essere lento ad abbandonare il classico sistema finanziario nonostante per molti decenni abbia proposto cambiamenti molto limitati nel modo di offrire servizi bancari e finanziari.
SVILUPPI DEL FINTECH
Da uno studio dell’Osservatorio Digital Finance della School of Management del Politecnico di Milano. Secondo l’indagine, dal 2011 a oggi sarebbero nate oltre 750 nuove aziende di FinTech in tutto il mondo. Sono aziende che avrebbero raccolto almeno 26,5 miliardi di dollari in finanziamenti e con una prevalenza, comunque, in settori e attività specifiche: la maggior parte delle startup del settore (il 58%) si occuperebbe, cioè, di servizi di banking e soltanto una minima parte opererebbe invece nel campo degli investment services (21%) e altri servizi.
Un dato interessante riguarda, poi, il target di questo tipo di imprese: il 96% di loro si rivolge, infatti, direttamente all’utente finale, che sia il consumatore o un’azienda di tipo non finanziario, nonostante non risultino escluse partnership e collaborazioni con attori più tradizionali del sistema.
FINTECH E BANKING
Come si accennava, comunque è il banking il settore destinato a essere più assorbito dalla FinTech. Gran parte delle attività tradizionalmente svolte dagli istituti bancari – come pagamenti, transazioni, gestione del rischio finanziario, intermediazione, scambio di valuta elettronica – con sempre più frequenza vengono operate oggi da imprese e startup della tecnofinanza.
POTENZIALITA’
A rendere la FinTech d’appeal soprattutto tra i più giovani è la facilità di fruizione, apprezzata dall’82% dei consumatori, i servizi veloci (81%) e una user experience altamente performante (80%).
